  • North Camberwell Improvements

We have heard from residents that pavements in the North Camberwell area can be difficult for pedestrians and wheelchair users to use. Southwark Council will be resurfacing the pavement and road in Benhill Road and Brunswick Park in 2018. As we have a duty to maintain accessibility for all, we will also use this opportunity to improve the area by widening the pavement where is it currently blocked by mature trees. Widening the pavement for each tree on Benhill Road and Brunswick Park... More

  • Dulwich Wood Park Speed Reduction

Southwark became a 20mph borough in March 2015. However, we have identified a number of sites where speeds regularly exceed 20mph, sometimes by a significant amount. This can increase the risk of accidents, as well as the risk that, when accidents occur, injuries may be more serious or even fatal. We have conducted a detailed review of the sites where traffic most regularly exceeds the 20mph limit, and we have identified measures to encourage reduced vehicles speeds and keep them to the... • Bermondsey to Peckham Quietway

Quietways are part of a London-wide programme to implement a network of continuous and convenient cycle routes on less-busy streets across London. The routes are clearly marked to help cyclists find their way along roads they may never have cycled along before. Quietways are ideal for less confident cyclists who want to cycle on lower-traffic streets, especially if they are new to cycling in London. We design our Quietways in accordance with Healthy Street principles, intended to make... More

  • Investing in Bermondsey and Rotherhithe

We want to know how you would like us to spend the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funds that we are collecting from developments in the area. CIL has largely replaced the s106 payments the Council received to mitigate the impact of new development in the area. There are some fundamental differences between CIL and s106. These are: We are able to pool resources from a range of developments so we are able to invest in substantial change if that is what we wish to do ... More

  • Highway Infrastructure Asset Management Plan Component Documents

Last year we consulted with you on the Highway Infrastructure Asset Management Plan (HIAMP); a single strategy to bring together flood risk management, winter maintenance, road maintenance, inspection frequencies and how we report on road conditions that affect the spending on our roads. We set out a new approach, where more of our works would be part of a planned maintenance scheme, rather than spend money reacting to reports of defects. We think this will offer an improved overall... More

  • Newington Trial Width Restrictions

Residents have told us, and our traffic counts have shown, that some of the roads in the Newington area have a higher than expected volume of lorries and other large vehicles using them as a cut-through from the major roads. This makes the local roads less safe and more unpleasant for residents and other road users. We are proposing to install trial width restrictions - these are in the form of traffic islands that narrow the road to 198cm (6ft 6in) - to prevent large vehicles from... More

As part of this, we want to hear from local people about their experiences of the area since the changes. More
