Resident-led housing services

Overview

Residents have told us they want more control over their housing services.

We've held workshops with both residents and housing staff about how we could possibly do this and we now have some proposals for a pilot scheme in Camberwell and Peckham.

We want to know what you think of these proposals.

What are our proposals?

  • We will establish three resident groups to oversee the pilot - two in Camberwell and one in Peckham.
  • There will be eight local residents in each group, including two from the local Area Housing Forum (what's this?).
  • Council staff will provide training and support to the groups but they will remain resident-led.
  • The groups will look at one area of the housing service at a time and redesign it to meet their needs together with council staff. The first area will be repairs.
  • As this is a pilot, we will evaluate the success of this approach before deciding whether to roll it out further.
