Worlingham Road - Junction Entry Treatment

Closed 20 Feb 2017

Opened 26 Jan 2017

Overview

Southwark Council are seeking feedback on a new junction entry treatment proposed for Worlingham Road, at the junction of East Dulwich Road. As a local resident/property owner we value your feedback on this proposal.

Feedback on this proposal should be submitted by Monday 20 February 2017.

The consultation plans (illustration of the proposal) can be found at the bottom of this page.

Why your views matter

This junction has had a crash history where 7 crashes have occured over the last 10 years. The proposal aims to improve safety for all road users, including pedestrians and motorists.

Details on the proposal

The following changes are proposed:

  • A new raised table (junction entry treatment) on Worlingham Road, at the junction of East Dulwich Road.
  • Extend the existing double yellow lines on the western side by 6.5 meters, resulting in the loss one on-street parking.

Why are additional double yellow lines necessary?

The junction entry treatment will change the existing road environment; resulting in changes to pedestrian and traffic behaviour. To ensure the proposal is safe for all road users the removal of one parking space ensures vulnerable road users such as wheelchair users, mobility scooter users and small children, who cannot see over parked cars, have sufficient visibility of oncoming motorists and vice versa.

What happens next

We will:

  • Consider all the feedback received and make decisions on the final design
  • Respond to those who provide feedback.  The response will include a summary of the feedback received, responses to feedback and will outline the final decisions on the project.

When will the proposed changes be implemented?

If, after considering the feedback received and Southwark decide to progress this project, physical works are planned to commence in mid-2017.
