Borough Market Area Traffic Arrangement

Closed 13 Nov 2022

Opened 10 Oct 2022

Overview

We would like to find out how proposals to change the road network around Borough Market might affect your use of the area. This survey is for anyone who visits or uses the Borough Market area, including residents and business owners/staff members.

We are proposing to close Stoney Street to motor vehicles at all times, improving on the current temporary arrangement with materials that fit with the character of the area. This change is in line with guidance from the emergency services on how to best protect those visiting the market and surrounding businesses. Examples of what the closure could look like can be found in the additional documents section.

Closing Stoney Street to motor vehicles at all times, plus developments in the area could potentially increase the amount of vehicles using Bedale Street; therefore, we propose to install traffic calming measures such as raised pedestrian crossing points and additional loading restrictions on Bedale Street to improve safety for those using the market and walking through the area.

Why your views matter

We'd like to hear how proposals to close Stoney Street at all times to motor vehicles and change the loading arrangements on Bedale Street would impact your use of the Borough Market area.

Please let us know how you use the area now and the best way that we can accomodate your future use of the area.
