Herne Hill Neighbourhood Forum

Closed 11 Sep 2017

Opened 31 Jul 2017

Overview

In October 2015, the Herne Hill Forum* notified Southwark council they're interested in preparing a neighbourhood plan for the Herne Hill area of Southwark and the adjoining London Borough of Lambeth. In July 2017 LB Southwark and LB Lambeth jointly validated an application that the Herne Hill Forum submitted seeking designation as a neighbourhood forum and for a neighbourhood area for the purposes of neighbourhood planning. If designated the forum will be able to start peraring a neighbourhood plan for their neighbourhood area.

Neighbourhood Planning was introduced under the Localism Act 2011 to give local people more of a hands on role in the planning of their neighbourhoods. It's a process that's led by the community and supported by the council For more information about Neighbourhood Planning, please refer to our website on this link:

The London Borough of Southwark and London Borough of Lambeth are now jointly out for consultation on a cross borough boundary neighbourhood forum and neighbourhood area application for the Herne Hill Forum.

Consultation will run for 6 weeks until 11 September 2017

* Please note the Herne Hill Forum is a community group which was established prior to the introduction of neighbourhood planning through the Localism Act in 2011. The Forum does not yet have formal “Neighbourhood Forum” status designated by the local planning authorities for the purposes of neighbourhood planning as defined in the Localism Act.
