Southwark Memorial Artwork Commission

Closed 30 Sep 2016

Opened 28 Jul 2016

Overview

Southwark Council has appointed the Contemporary Art Society and formed a panel to commission a new contemporary public artwork. As well as being a symbolic piece of contemporary art, it will serve as a 21st Century memorial to war and conflict.

We would like you to get involved by completing a questionnaire telling us if you, a friend of family member have experienced war and conflict in your lives, as your thoughts would be valuable.

Why your views matter

We want the artwork to connect with a wide range of people who make up the communities of Southwark. Before an artist is commissioned for the final piece, we would like you to get involved by considering what war and conflict means to you and offering ideas about what role a memorial can play, both in the current day and in the future.
