Leathermarket Gardens is a much loved park situated between Bermondsey St and London Bridge. It is well used by residents and those coming into the area for work or leisure.
Development taking place, especially around St Thomas Street, will increase local footfall and impact park use. There is a need to improve the quality of the park, in terms of its accessibility and how it connects to its surroundings.
We want to extend the greening of the park into the neighboring estate. In helping to address the climate change emergency, we also want to put in place resilient plantings that mitigate the impacts of the urban environment.
Whether you live nearby, work or visit the park, we're keen to hear from you.
Please view an overview of our plans to improve the quality of the park, below, and complete the questionnaire. You can also join us at our drop in event next Wednesday 13 July, 12.30 pm - 5.00 pm, near Tyers Gate, Leathermarket Gardens.
This consultation is being carried out by our regeneration team at Southwark Council, and closes Sunday 31st July 2022.
Our aim is to provide a community hub where residents and visitors love to spend time or wander through and find it easy to do so.
Your views are important as they will increase our understanding of your aspirations and priorities for the park, and shape designs to improve it.
We will analyse all information received through the community engagement and respond to your ideas and comments in the next engagement later this year.
We invite members of the community to come and talk with the design team in Leathermarket Gardens
