We last wrote to you in August 2020 to share pre planning exhibition boards showcasing the final design proposal for the site, which includes redeveloping the existing Tenants’ and Residents’ Association (TRA) hall to build a new TRA hall including;

  • 11 new homes above the hall
  • landscaping of the communal area behind the hall
  • removal of the existing covered walkway between the existing hall and shop parade.

Since sharing the final designs there have been some slight changes with the addition of a basement under the hall to provide enough space for a water tank to satisfy fire safety requirements.

To view the final proposals which have been subitted for planning please click on the Design & Access documents attached in 3 parts due to document size.

Overview

You have been directed to this website from a letter about our exciting proposal for a new Tenants Residents Association hall and new council homes at council rent on the Lettsom Estate.

With over 10,000 households on the councils waiting list the need for genuinely affordable housing has never been greater and Southwark council, with support from the GLA, has a once in a lifetime opportunity to build new homes in the borough.

Over the last few months the council has been working with a small group of local residents developing the designs for new council homes in your local area. This process of designing the new homes is now complete.

At this stage in our process, we would usually invite you to attend a drop in event to see the completed scheme before a planning application is submitted. As we are unable to hold such events we will instead be publishing the presentation boards for you to review at home together with a “You said we did” summary of the consultation undertaken thus far. These can be found in the "Related" section below.

Whilst acknowledging the difficulties caused by COVID-19, the Council continues to be committed to its target of delivering 11,000 new homes by 2043, to provide much needed council homes for those in housing need. Therefore, where possible, the New Homes Team continues to operate on a business as usual basis to ensure that new homes continue to be developed.
