Housing Revenue Account Rent Setting and Charges 2022/23* Consultation

Closed 10 Jan 2022

Opened 17 Dec 2021

Overview

The council wants to hear your views on the proposals for landlord-related charges for the forthcoming financial year commencing April 2022, covering rents and service charges, sheltered housing, garages and district heating charges.

Every year Southwark Council consults residents on the headline elements of its proposed Housing Revenue Account (HRA) budget for the forthcoming year.

This year the budget includes proposals for rises in dwelling rents, tenant service charges, sheltered housing service charges, garage charges and charges for heating and hot water.

There are also proposals to make some further savings in expenditure on landlord services and a list of unavoidable additional commitments, principally around government requirements with regard to the Fire Safety Act 2021 and the Building Safety Bill currently going through Parliament.

The cabinet will consider your responses to this consultation in mid-January 2022 before taking any final decisions.

*NB the title of the consultation has been amended to reflect the financial year to which the new charges will apply.

What happens next

The findings will be published and shared with the council’s Cabinet when they consider this report in January 2022.
