Results updated 2 Nov 2021

We are happy to inform you that Rennie Estate Garages has been granted planning permission for 49 new council homes.

Fraser Brown McKenna architects had submitted a planning application for the new homes proposal at Rennie Estate Garages, last year and planning granted in March 2021.

Further detail can be found in Junes newsletter below.

Thank you to all those local people who have helped us reach this milestone. Your comments, questions and contributions have been a hugely important part of making sure this project develops.

We are now in the procurement process which aims to appoint a suitable contractor who will build the development. Once this is complete there will be a further drop-in session with an opportunity to meet the contractors and to join the resident’s project group who will start meeting regularly with the contractor and project team during the construction process. We will provide details of this closer to the time

Overview

Southwark council has made a historic commitment to deliver 11,000 new homes in Southwark by 2043, with 2,500 delivered by 2022. The aim of this engagement is to support the delivery of the 11,000 new council homes within the borough. We have over 600 new homes completed or nearing completion in the new homes programme across the borough and have been working with residents to identify sites where we could build new homes..

One of the sites where we are proposing to build new homes is on Rennie Estate, the area currently used as a temporary car park.

The site has potential to house many families and homes of which 50% would be let to local residents within its catchment area as part of the local letting scheme

We want to make sure that local residents have a say in what is being built in their neighbourhood, the design and its community space. The scheme will be of mixed sized properties, related to the needs of the area.

Why your views matter

We want to hear what you think about the proposal to build on this site. Your feedback is very important and will be used to develop the plans for this site. Please spend a few minutes recording your comments here.
