The Council remains committed to working with residents on our programme during this period of uncertainty and will follow the advice issued by Central Government as to the precautionary measures and action to take to ensure that residents, staff, and partners are protected from the Covid-19 (Coronavirus).

For the foreseeable future we are adapting the way we consult to remove unnecessary social contact. We will:

  • Consult you about the best way to communicate with you (when necessary)
  • Keep you informed via the Consultation Hub
  • Continue to liaise with the Tenants and Resident Associations (TRA)
  • Continue to write to you directly via post or email
  • Depending on Central’s Government  advice about Covid-19 on when it is possible to do so, arrange face to face meetings

Overview

Help us to shape how we can improve your estate.

Our residents across Southwark are concerned about housing. That’s why we’re building 11,000 new council homes in the borough by 2043 - 2,500 of these by 2022. It’s a big goal, but it’s crucial if we’re going to tackle the housing crisis and make sure our residents have quality homes they can be proud of, now and in the future.

It’s really important to us that we work with existing residents when we create new council homes in Southwark. When we build new council homes on estates, we are always looking for ways to improve estates for residents to benefit from.

While making improvements to your estate, we would like to hear from people on the estate, to help us decide:

  • How you think your estate could be improved
  • Where on your estate you think we could build new council homes

Throughout the design and development of any new council homes, we’ll make sure you’re involved in the most important decisions.  There will also be plenty of opportunities for you to have your say.

This could be through TRAs (where they exist), individually, or through drop-in meetings and events. We’ll also keep you updated through newsletters, on our website.  We will also aim to hold meetings at times that work for everyone.

This survey is being carried out by our new homes delivery team at Southwark Council.  We look forward to hearing from you by the closing date of 13 March 2020.

Why your views matter

We need you to help us decide where and how we build new council homes, while making improvements to your estate that all residents can benefit from.

What happens next

Thank you for completing this survey. After this consultation closes on 13 March 2020, we will write to you with feedback and what we are doing by early Spring 2020.
