11,000 New Council Homes - Alexis Street
Results updated 26 May 2020
The Council remains committed to working with residents on our programme during this period of uncertainty and will follow the advice issued by Central Government as to the precautionary measures and action to take to ensure that residents, staff, and partners are protected from the Covid-19 (Coronavirus).
For the foreseeable future we are adapting the way we consult to remove unnecessary social contact. We will:
- Consult you about the best way to communicate with you (when necessary)
- Keep you informed via the Consultation Hub
- Continue to liaise with the Tenants and Resident Associations (TRA)
- Continue to write to you directly via post or email
- Depending on Central’s Government advice about Covid-19 on when it is possible to do so, arrange face to face meetings.

Overview
We've committed to build 11,000 new council homes across Southwark by 2043 - 2,500 of these by 2022. It's a big goal, but crucial if we're going to tackle the housing crisis and make sure our residents have quality homes they can be proud of, now and in the future.
Throughout the design and development of all our new council homes, we work closely with residents and the local community to help shape the way we do things, so your feedback is important to us.
Charles Mackenzie estate garage site
We are considering developing new council homes where two garage blocks are currently situated. These garages are no longer used for their intended purpose and could be used to build council homes for local residents in housing need.
The map below shows the indicative area of council land on which we may develop in consultation with local residents.
Why your views matter
We want residents to be involved in choosing the best development option for the area. Please take a few minutes to give us your views in this short questionnaire.
If you are having difficulties and would like some help with completing this form, please contact the New Homes Engagement officer Rahala Khalida on 0207 525 0866.
