11,000 New Council Homes - Abbeyfield

Closed 24 Jan 2019

Opened 13 Dec 2018

Overview

Southwark Council has made a historic commitment to deliver 11,000 new homes in Southwark by 2043, with 2,500 delivered by 2022. To make this a success we need to know what residents think and make sure residents shape our proposals. This is the key to the delivery of quality housing that improves the local area and the lives of Southwark residents.

As part of our commitment, we are considering the development of new homes on the site of the old area housing office, 153 - 159 Abbeyfield Road, SE16 2BS.

The scheme will be of mixed sized properties, related to the needs of the area.

A drop-in consultation was held on 12 December 2018 at Pedworth Sheltered Housing Scheme, SE16 2BS. See below for the display boards which the architects have drawn up to outline their initial proposal.

Why We Are Consulting

We want to hear what you think about the proposal to build on this site. Your feedback is very important and will be used to develop the plans for this site. Please spend a few minutes recording your comments here.

What Happens Next

Our architects are developing the plans and are taking into account the issues that have been raised in the feedback we have received. We are also commissioning further surveys to inform the design. We will hold another drop-in event before we submit the planning application in the summer. We do not intend to set up a project group for this sceme as the number of people who have expressed an interest is insufficient for it to be sustainable.
