Overview

We have committed to the most ambitious council house building programme anywhere in the country for a generation – to build 11,000 new council homes by 2043, with 2,500 of these delivered by 2022. We want to work with you to ensure that we achieve the best we can for our communities from this investment.

Right now, we want to hear your ideas about where we can build these 11,000 new homes. Add your suggestions to our interactive map or fill in the survey below if you prefer to write down your ideas.

How we have consulted residents so far

In the first stage of the consultation on the Charter of Principles which took place from August - October 2014, the council committed to uphold a number of pledges in terms of involving local people in decisions about the new council homes.  Read the Charter of Principles and download the full consultation report below.

Visit our website for more information about the consultation and the locations where we are already building new homes.

What happens next

Once we have collected peoples views and ideas regarding the 11,000 new council homes we will analyse the responses and prepare a public consultation report by September 2015.  This will be shared with the council's cabinet in October or November 2015.  We will feedback their decision on the Consultation Hub as soon as we can.
