Tell us what you think about plans for a camera-controlled 'School Street' on sections of Adys Road, Amott Road and Ondine Road.
We have worked with St John's and St Clement's Primary School to develop plans for a 'School Street' on Adys Road between East Dulwich Road and Amott Road, on Amott Road between Adys Road and Keston Road, and on Ondine Road east of Muschamp Road (see plan below). Using Automatic Number-Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras, motor vehicles would be banned from travelling through this section of road during school opening and closing hours (up to an hour each morning and afternoon).
There would be exemptions for:-
Trials of 'School Street' closures across Southwark have been very well received by schools and parents, contributing greatly to children's safety, improving air quality at school locations, and making it easier for children to travel to school by walking or cycling.
We are keen to hear from residents of these roads, as well as from parents and teachers at St John's and St Clement's Primary School, about how this scheme should work and any concerns you may have.
We want to make sure the scheme we implement is the best fit possible for local residents, as well as for children who attend St John's and St Clement's Primary School, their parents and carers.
Following this consultation, and subject to sign-off by the Cabinet Member, we would expect any scheme to be implemented in autumn 2022.
