Shad Thames Improvement Scheme
Overview
Southwark Council is currently seeking feedback on proposals to improve the streetscape of Shad Thames.
How we got here:
In recent years Southwark Council has been working with key stakeholders and Ward Councillors to identify ways to improve the streets within the Shad Thames area.
5 areas have been identified as needing improvement. These are:
- Improving the footways through decluttering and undertaking repairs.
- Junction improvements to provided better crossing facilities and slow down vehicles.
- Introducing more trees and planting.
- Improving the safety and accessibility for pedestrians by widening footways, where possible using a one-way system.
- Introducing enhanced parking restrictions and weight limits on vehicles entering Shad Thames.
These improvements will be delivered in stages over the short to long term, subject to available funding.
Consultation
For an opportunity to discuss plans with council officers, a drop-in session is being held in Anderson Rose, 31F Shad Thames, London SE1 2YR on Thursday 9th November 2017 from 5.30pm to 8pm.
We would be grateful if you would take the time to review the proposals below and respond to the online survey by Monday 27th November. Your views are essential for us to understand your requirements as they form a fundamental part of the scheme development process.
What happens next
The responses to the online survey will be analysed and taken into account in the final priority of works.
As you can appreciate, Southwark Council receives many comments from consultations and we are therefore unable to respond personally to specific issues raised. All comments and suggestions are taken into consideration before a decision is made. The final decision on the scheme will be taken by the Cabinet Member for Environment and Public Realm in Autumn 2017, in collaboration with Ward councillors.
Should you require any further information regarding the proposed scheme please contact Alexander Rozema at highways@southwark.gov.uk or write to:
