Old Kent Road Proposed Parking Zone

Closed 9 Jan 2022

Opened 29 Nov 2021

Southwark Council is conducting a parking study in the Old Kent Road area.

A parking study is an opportunity for the council to assess the parking issues in a certain area by asking the local residents and businesses how they view parking on their street and whether they would like a parking zone to be introduced.

A parking zone is a network of streets covered by parking controls. Each street is marked out with either parking bays or double yellow lines.

The council will analyse all responses on a road by road basis and make a recommendation to the decision maker.

Any parking controls that we introduce will take into account the results of the consultation as well as existing highway safety issues in the proposed zone, feedback from emergency services, and our wider transport policies reflecting our responsibilities to air quality and active travel.

We would like to hear your views on the proposal. Please read the background documents below and consider the proposed layout before completing the questionnaire online

Why your views matter

Old Kent Road is preparing for significant development over the next decade, including up to 20,000 new homes, linked with the proposed Bakerloo Line Extension. This means the surrounding areas are going to see an increase in demand for parking.

In particular we want to know whether you support parking restrictions in your street, and if so the hours you would like to see them in operation.

We would be grateful if you could take the time to review the proposal included in this online consultation and let us know what you think via the online questionnaire.

Your views are really important to help us know what your parking problems are and make sure any final designs meet the needs of the local community.

What happens next

The responses to this consultation will be evaluated and will contribute to any future consultation or any new designs for a controlled parking zone.
