What do you think about proposals to improve cycling and walking facilities in the North Peckham area - that's roughly the area between Burgess
Park to the north and Peckham Road to the south?
As part of the healthy streets scheme, we recently introduced a controlled parking zone in the area which has reduced parking pressures. Now, we would like to know what you think about changes to key junctions and road
layout to make the area safer for all road users.
Please see the plans in the related documents section for more information.
The principal changes we are proposing include:
Section A Closing St George's Way to through motor traffic, with a barrier east of Chandler Way
Section B Installation of a two-way cycle track on part of Commercial Way and changes to the crossing at Moody Road to help cyclists and pedestrians cross Commercial Way.
See the plans attached below for more detail.
There are also improvements proposed at the junction of Kelly Avenue and Peckham Road, which will be delivered with TfL.
Tell us what you think using the survey below, and come along to discuss them in person on 15th September 5.30-7pm at St Luke's Church, Chandler Way.
Please note: this is a different project to the North Peckham Streetspace Review, which looks at traffic reduction measures in the streets east of Peckham Hill Street and can be found here: https://consultations.southwark.gov.uk/environment-leisure/northpeckhamreview
We think these changes will make the area, cleaner, safer and easier to use for residents and all road users. However, we would like to know what you think of the proposals.
The results of the consultation will be analysed, we will consider changes to the design based on your comments, and the Cabinet Member will make a decision on whether to proceed.
Please come along to St Luke's Church, Peckham on Chandler Way to discuss the proposals with council officers
