Redevelopment plans for Fredericks Playground

Fredrick’s Playground is a former adventure playground, currently in poor condition, which has been closed since 2020. The playground is bordered by Chapter Road to the north, Westcott Road to the east, and a residential property to the south.  An access road to the Doddington Grove housing estate forms the western boundary of the site, with Pasley Park located north.

We have set aside funding to redesign and redevelop the playground into a vibrant, new, exciting space that will meet the needs of local children, young people and families. We expect redevelopment works to begin in the space by the end of next year.

In order to do this we would like to know how we can:

• make the playground more welcoming, attractive and accessible
• improve visibility and safety
• improve the overall quality of the playground

We also like to know the types of facillities and play equipment people would like to see at the playground. 

This survey is open to children, families and young people who live in the Walworth SE17 area.  Please spare a few minutes to help us work out how we can redevelop the playground so it meets local peoples needs by giving us your views. If you have children please encourage them to share their ideas as you complete the survey.

This survey is being carried out by our parks team at Southwark Council.  It closes on 31st August 2022.

This is an exiciting opportunity for you as a community member to be involved in local area design as your ideas will shape the final design of the playground. 

We want to create a playground that you can enjoy and be proud of, and to do that we need your help! Plase get involved and help us to make this happen. 

What happens next

The first set of designs will be drawn up based on your initial feedback. We will then undergo a second round of consultation that you will be invited to take part in to review the designs.  The revised designs will then be used by our appointed contractors to redevelop the playground by the end of the year.
