Druid St Walking and Cycling Improvements

Closed 15 Oct 2021

Opened 17 Sep 2021

Overview

Tell us what you think about walking and cycling improvements on Druid St

We would like to

  • Reduce through traffic on Druid St
  • Improve the walking and cycling experience
  • Provide space for a footpath in front of the arches
  • Provide more space on the road for cyclists, with segregated cycle lanes
  • Improve waiting and loading arrangements

We want to hear your views on how we could improve the proposals, and what measures you would like to see us implement on Druid Street to improve the experience.

These measures will be on a trial basis to find out what works and what could be improved, before investing in a longer term scheme. We will monitor traffic, and carry out further consultation after the measures have been installed, to determine the success of the trial.

Why your views matter

There are competing demands on Druid Street, with residential properties on the northern side, and businesses housed in the railway arches to the south. As such we want to find a balanced approach that is fair to everyone, allowing businesses to operate safely and providing better facilities to residents and visitors. We need your input to understand how we can achieve this.

The feedback from this consultation will help us design future improvements in the area, by understanding what is most important to you.

What happens next

The responses to this consultation will be evaluated and will be submitted to the Cabinet Member to inform the decision whether the scheme should proceed
