Borough parking zone review
Overview
Review of Borough (C2) parking zone
The Borough and Bankside (C) Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) was introduced in 1974. The zone was subject to a review in 2001 when the CPZ split into two smaller zones Bankside (C1) and Borough (C2) in order to reduce the effects of inter-zone commuting that was expected to increase with the introduction of the central London congestion charging. The last review of the C2 zone was undertaken in 2006 when minor changes to the parking layout were made.
Some people have told us that the area is subject to increasing pressure on kerbside parking. This may be due to a combination of new developments, new highway projects, increasing business and resident population, as well as visitors and deliveries to the area. While there has been a substantial change to the demographics in the area, the available kerbside space has remained broadly the same. It’s for this reason we need to prioritise and allocate the kerbside space carefully, to meet the various needs of residents, businesses and visitors to the area.
Have your say on proposals to change the times of operation in your parking zone
C2 parking zone currently operates from Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 6.30pm.
We would like to know if you are happy with the operational times of your zone or if you think that changes should be made, such as increasing the operating times to evenings and/or weekends.
The council does not have a preference for any particular proposal and any changes would only be introduced if there was a broad consensus in favour.
The map above shows the area being consulted.
We will also be using this review as an opportunity to:
- identify potential changes to the type and position of existing parking bays;
- reduce and clarify the provision of parking signs.
