Bellenden Village Street Improvements
Overview
Tell us what you think about proposals to improve walking and cycling facilities in the Bellenden Village area.
We previously engaged with residents and businesses about proposals for this part of the Southwark Spine cycle route between East Dulwich and Peckham. When we consulted on this is 2018 concerns were raised, especially from businesses, about the loss of short stay parking spaces.
We have since revised our designs, which include the following:
- Junction and footway buildout to increase space for people to walk around the shops
- Widened short stay parking bays
- Retention of parking and loading bays in current locations
- School street improvements including raised crossings and widened pavements
- Improved cycling facilities such as cycle stands and signage
- Public realm improvements such as tree planting or raised plant beds
We think the improvements should bring more visitors to the area and help make it an attractive environment to spend time in.
