Southwark Autism Strategy

Closed 23 Oct 2015

Opened 20 Aug 2015

Feedback expected 31 Jan 2016

Overview

Over the past 18 months, Southwark Council and the Southwark NHS Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) have been talking to people about autism. This has included people with autism and their families/carers; professionals who diagnose and/or support people with autism; and organisations that support people with autism and their families/carers.

We have been asking what improvements or changes need to be made to improve the services and support people with autism access to ensure they lead fulfilling and active lives and achieve their full potential.

We have listened to what people have told us and looked at national best practice to develop a draft strategy. We now need you to tell us if the strategy has properly captured all of the issues in Southwark and is suggesting the right actions that need to be taken.

What happens next

Thank you for your interest but the consultation is now closed. We will collect all of the responses and use them to create a final version of the strategy which will be presented to the CCG’s board and council Cabinet. A final strategy and action plan will be published in January 2016.

Events

  • Southwark Autism Strategy Event

    From 16 Sep 2015 at 11:00 to 16 Sep 2015 at 19:30

    - Do you have autism?
    - Are you a parent, carer, friend or family member of someone with autism?
    - Do you work with people with autism?
    - Do you have an interest in autism?

Southwark Council and Southwark CCG are developing a local Autism Strategy to improve the support for
children and adults with autism. The Strategy will provide guidance for the planning and provision of local services.

Your feedback is vital! We want to know what services you want and need, and we want to know where we
    should prioritise our work.

We are holding some consultation events on 16 September to give you a chance to tell us directly what you think is needed in Southwark.

The events will be at Cambridge House, Addington Square, London SE5 0HF. Times are:

    - 11am-12.30pm – session for professionals who work with people with autism
    - 1-2.30pm – session for parents, carers and people with autism
    - 3-4.30pm – session open to everyone
    - 6-7.30pm – session open to everyone

Refreshments will be provided at each session.

To book a place on one of our sessions, please contact Feza Lusinde on 0207 525 1789

Copies of the draft Autism Strategy will be available at the event. If you can’t make an event, or want to get a copy before the event, you can find a copy on Southwark Council’s website.

You can also tell us your thoughts online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Southwarkautism or by
    emailing autismstrategy@southwark.gov.uk

Responses must be received by 23rd October 2015.
We will be collecting everyone’s comments and using them to develop a finalised Autism Strategy that will
be published (along with an action plan) in January 2016.
